How to join
Witness Journal is a project opened to the contributions of anyone, But it's also a real newspaper, with an editor in chief and an editorial team of journalist and photographers. To mix together these two different soul, we looked for a new business model based on some clear and simply “rules” to protect publisher and newspaper, as well as contributors, professionist and amateurs.
Share revenues, not costs
FotoUp and Witness are registered marks by MAM network. As Witness Journal publisher, MAM network is civilly and criminally liable for any content as well as the editor in chief, according to the italian law. MAM network also back up costs of publication, hosting and promotion.
How Witness Journal works
Registered users have 3 weeks to propose stories for each magazine issue. Each proposal (composed by a short article description and two photographs) must be published into a special area of Witness Journal Forum.
At the end of this period the editorial staff will do its choice, selecting the best proposals and contacting the authors in order to talk about editorial line.
In order to be published every proposal must attend the following rules:
1)The author must hold any copyright upon the photographs
2)According to privacy law, we need a release in order to publish people faces
3)The author gives Witness Journal publishing rights for a period of 30 days (for each issue)
In exchange, Witness Journal, warrants:
1)30% of ADV budget (equally shared between each issue authors)
2)Promotion and publishing of the photographers works
3)Backing up costs of publication, hosting and promotion
